What A Gay Day!
Met friends at the airport who are getting married in Edinburgh-my second gay wedding in two months-how exciting! And as if to nod towards the gay celebrations, Sinitta and Ruby Wax were on the same flight-how camp!
My guests on Forth tonight were the ever eloquent, and consistently charming and funny, Miles Jupp then Omid Djalili who as well as encouraging me to sing more, was so humble and gracious and gentle and warm. I was quite blown away by his generosity of spirit. A true gentleman and unsurprisingly he holds the record for the biggest audience at the festival ever-16,500 people went to see him in 3 weeks! I love when good things happen to good people-he’s a treasure (which is quite apt for someone who was in ’Pirates of the Caribbean III ’)
Had another lovely show tonight. A wonderful happy faced guy called Jim from Tullyallen Police College was tonight’s star. Every comedian should have a Jim in their audience. Smiley, happy, jolly, with a big laugh and lovely way about him. We also had gay Roger, the Edinburgh man from Hong Kong, the very drunken girl from Fife and Pauline and Lorna from Kirkcaldy who were adorable and a good laugh. Tonight’s emotion of choice from the audience for the photo was ’constipated’, which as funny as it is, doesn’t always make for the prettiest of photos-I promise you, they were better looking in the flesh!
